Scope
  • European association of parties interested in quality approved EUR-pallets which is including the producers, dealers, repairers, users, railways, transporters, etc.

    The service is not profit orientated.
Purpose
  • Quality assurance of re-usable EUR-pallets throughout the world on uniform criteria including exchange.
Tasks
  • Implementation of UIC norms 435-2/ 435-4 regarding the EUR-pallet.
  • Promotion of exchangeability for ecological and economical reasons.
  • Promotion of uniform exchange criteria on UIC basis.
  • Creation of working groups for these tasks.
Activities

 

 

  • Registration of the union trademark   as IR-mark with the International Bureau of Intellectual Property OMPI, Geneva, under No 617 158 as well as under No 472 415 as community mark with the Office for European marks in Alicante thereby guaranteeing its international protection.
  • Elaboration of a Technical Rule Book that governs the licenzing terms for production, trade and repairs of quality approved product and the control parameters.
  • Awarding of symbols and attribution of the control marks
    , i.e. control clamp, control seal, authentic repair nail.
  • Appointment of control companies for theobservance of norms and regulations.
  • Pursuit of infringements against the "Technical Rule Book", abuse or imitations of symbols and trademarks by legal or outside of the law means.
  • Establishment of a list of all EPAL registered companies.
Objectives
  • To put at the disposal of the European market an exchangeable EUR pool pallet of sufficient quality with uniform exchange criteria.
Strategy

 

  • To comply with their ambitious logistical requirements users buy and use only quality approved EUR-pallets marked with the   symbol.
  • To promote increased utilization of exchangeable material to allow for environmental protection.
